Hugh Jennings Handing Out Birdathon Awards

Hugh Jennings Handing Out Birdathon Awards

We hold an informal awards ceremony at our June Program Night to recognize everyone who participates in Birdathon.  While most teams try their best to find the most birds and raise the most money for the sheer fun of competition and joy of seeing birds, we do award "prestigious" trophies in 3 categories:

  • Most money raised by a team - Dunk-A-Doo Trophy
  • Most species seen by a team - Phoebe Snetzinger Award
  • Most money raised by a Birdathon rookie - Rookie of the Year

2009 Birdathon Award winners:

  • Dunk-A-Doo Trophy - Mountains to Sound Warblers
(Andy McCormick, Tim McGruder, Sunny Walter, Maureen Sunn)
      • Later eclipsed by the Bird Brains (Jim Rettig, Jan Rettig, Cindy Balbuena, Tricia Kishel and Roger Chapanis)
  • Phoebe Snetzinger Award - Whidbey Wing Dings (Hugh Jennings, Mark Crawford, Sharon Aagard, and Derek Mahaffey)
  • Rookie of the Year - Sunny Walter
