You are here: Home Birds Where To Go Birding Puget Sound Birding Hotspots Bellevue Botanical Gardens

Bellevue Botanical Gardens

This is a beautiful park cut off from downtown Bellevue, only realized because of the hum of traffic along I-405. The park is filled with specialized gardens; a Japanese garden, wooded wetlands, a glen of rhododendrons, a fuchsia garden, an alpine rock garden, perennial beds and a demonstration garden that features plants suitable for our wet winters and dry summers.

The Bellevue Botanical Garden is the perfect place for a quiet moment to enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.  Stroll the gardens and woodlands and listen for the birds.  Watch the squirrels jump from tree to tree.

Notes: Garden us open dawn to dusk daily.

Getting There:  The address is 12001 Main Street, Bellevue, WA  98005. From I-405, take the N.E. 8th Street East exit, turn right on N.E. 120th Avenue. N.E. 120th Avenue curves slightly to the right and becomes N.E. First Street. Turn left onto Main Street. We're up the hill about 3 blocks and on your right. See map

Where to go: Paths are well marked and much of the garden is surrounded by large trees. Feel free to stroll the gardens and woodlands and listen for the birds.

Setting:  The gardens are comprised of 36 acres of display gardens, woodlands, meadows and wetlands. The land is flat to moderately sloping, with gravel paths.  This is a great place to spend a morning and see what birds and other wildlife you can see in the area.

Best Time to See the Birds:  There are local birds here all year long.

Birds Commonly Seen: Robins, Towees, Juncos, Song Sparrows, Pileated Woodpecker, Brown Creeper, Rufous Hummingbird, and some waterfowl.

Restrictions: Dogs or other pets are not allowed

For more information: Visit theBellevue Botanical Garden website.
