March 27 (Saturday) 7:30 a.m. The Nisqually NWR offers a diverse combination of habitats and birds. The delta is bounded by rivers on each side with marshes, deciduous woods and wide open areas. Early spring migrants are arriving to joining regulars such as woodpeckers and Great Horned owls and a variety of still wintering waterfowl and raptors should be present.

Wetland and forest habitats, which support more than 150 species of beautiful, sensitive plants plus woodpeckers, flycatchers, waxwings, thrushes and sparrows.

Old Sauk River Trail
Leisurely 3-mile r.t. forest walk along river- no elevation gain. Trilliums, dwarf dogwoods, wood violets, twinflowers, and starflowers carpet the forest floor.
