Chelan Ridge Raptor Migration
The US Forest Service invites us to visit Chelan Ridge on Saturday, September 17, the weekend before the Raptor Migration program. This is the height of the songbird migration, so we will see both raptors and songbirds. An educator will be present to answer our questions. Bring a lunch for this all day trip. Meet before 7:30 a.m. at north end of Issaquah P&R: (I-90, exit 15, turn right (south) go to 2nd or 3rd light, then left into P&R lot). Passenger cost/person $9.00.

Bring a lunch. Plan to return late afternoon. We expect to see waterfowl, shorebirds, jaegers, gulls and terns. Meet before 7 a.m. at south end of Kingsgate P&R: (I-405, exit 20B northbound or 20 southbound at NE 124th St., go west to light at 116th Ave. NE, then right (north) a few blocks to P&R lot).

Expect lots of saltwater waterfowl, cormorants and Great Blue Herons in the South Sound bays. We visit three state parks during the day, so if you have State Parks pass bring it with you. We will include Snake Lake in Tacoma if time permits.

This is a 343 acre reserve. It is 3-4 miles south of the town of Snohomish along the Snohomish R. Three lakes as well as marshes and wooded areas attract a large variety of birds. The trail also goes down to the Snohomish River. Bring a lunch.

On this drive through the farmlands of the Snoqualmie Valley we'll look for Bald Eagles and other raptors, and scope the ponds for a variety of ducks.
