- (Tuesday) - October 21, 2008 Whidbey Island is a great birding location any time of the year. We will take the ferry from Mukilteo and work the passage, and then look at forest, wetland, marsh, salt water, grasslands, and rocky edges. We'll be searching out loons, grebes, alcids, waterfowl, raptors, shorebirds, and passerines as we work our way the length of the island. If we have time we will stop at the Stanwood sewer ponds on the way home. Come prepared for any type of weather, bring lunch and fluids. Spotting scope helpful. Meet before 7 a.m. at south end of Kingsgate P&R. Passenger cost/per person $17 plus share ferry cost. Return early evening. Brian H. Bell 425-485-8058
