Activist Workshops

At a recent Eastside Audubon Board Retreat, we set a goal to have two activist workshops on climate change.  Our Conservation Chair, Tim McGruder, designed and produced two well-attended and successful workshops in 2008.

Previous Activist Workshops

Land Use Workshop

As we get more people in our local land use mentoring program, we will hold a workshop to train them (and other interested parties) on how to work with local governments.

The workshop will feature a 5-person panel of Tim McGruder, Jim Rettig, Jim McRoberts., Maureen Sunn, and Len Steiner to get the best of everyone’s ideas and find out what works and what doesn’t work.  It will also give new people a chance to see different styles of organizing, tracking, negotiating, and persuasion.  Panelists may even be persuaded to tell us a few of their success stories.

Other Activist Workshops

We would like to sponsor more workshops in the future.  Formats are flexible.  Our first 2008 workshop was a 6-hour Saturday workshop, included lunch, and cost $15.  The second workshop was in the evening and was free.

If you have ideas for any topics you would like to see a workshop cover, please contact Tim at tmcgruder@eastsideaudubon.org.   Better yet, contact him and offer to help.
