Summer Camp Scholarship Fund

Amy McQuade Kid's Camp Scholarship

Amy McQuade, one of our founding members, served on the Board of Directors for nearly 25 years and proved herself to be a great leader and inspiration. Amy passed away in February, 2008.

In 2006 two anonymous donors pledged up to $6,000 as seed money for the Amy McQuade Camp Scholarship fund - if the Board of Directors could raise matching funds. Our members saw that this was a worthy cause and matched almost the whole $6,000.

Our goal is to send low-income students to a week's summer camp that focuses on the natural world and/or natural sciences.

In 2007 seven campers attended a variety of summer camps, and in 2008 eight children went to camp. In 2008, we selected NOAA Science Camp, Islandwood, the PacSci Camp, and the Wilderness Awareness Scout Adventure for our scholarships.

The number of scholarships we offer each year varies at the discretion of the Scholarship Award Committee and because of funds available. Applications must be processed through the student's school.
To apply for a scholarship, please fill out the Application and Guardian Permission Form.
