Outreach Events
Chapter outreach events are great opportunities for learning what Eastside Audubon is all about.
Stop by to check us out.
Volunteering for a shift at a booth with other friendly people is a great way to get to know your fellow EAS members. Take a look at the events above and contact Jan McGruder at 425 -576-8805 or jmcgruder@eastsideaudubon.org if you want to help.
Types of Outreach Events
Some of the events are kid-related; some are all about native plants and gardens; some are environmentally-oriented.
We have volunteers on hand to:
- Answer questions about EAS and what we do - especially our field trips and meetings, youth education activities, and conservation activites.
- ID birds that visitors have seen. We have bird books on hand and a mounted bird or two for them to look at.
- Help children with the kid's activity - mainly self-explanatory.
- Hand out brochures and provide membership information.
We also hold special outreach festivals with a combination of bird and conservation presentations, bird walks, and youth activites. Our first one took place in Duvall in conjunction with the September King County Harvest Celebration Farm Tour. Our second was in Issaquah, with the theme of Winter Birds.
