Photo Walk at Juanita Bay Park

Monthly Wildlife and Birding Photo Walk with Kenmore Camera and Eastside Audubon at
Juanita Bay Park

Chuck Guilford will lead an early morning walk, along with a Kenmore Camera rep, through Juanita Bay Park to see what birds and wildlife are in the area. Route for the day will depend upon prior scouting. We will go to the most interesting or rarest birds first. Bring your camera (see equipment section for details) and meet in the upper end of the parking lot!

The park gates are typically open by 7:15 am. If by chance the park gates are still closed there is on-street parking on Market Street just south of the park, but avoid parking in the bus lane. No permit required for parking in the lot.

Equipment

  • Camera, any lens size, but 200mm will be optimal for a variety of subjects.

  • Interchangeable lens or bridge cameras work best.

  • Cell phones with lens extenders or binocular with attachments can work, but cell phones without one of the optical options tend not to work as well.

  • Bring charged batteries, fresh memory cards, and a tripod or mono-pod, if desired. Weather can change throughout walk, so plan accordingly with rain protection for camera and lens, and yourself.

  • Group may walk up to a 1/2 mile from parking lot, so if needed, bring a comfortable way to carry your gear.

Extras
The restrooms are closed during the Winter, but there are normally portables during the Winter. The restrooms usually open shortly after the gates are opened, but not guaranteed so plan accordingly.

Please plan to be outdoors, with whatever water, snacks, sunscreen, bug repellent, or supplies that you may need.

Please note that this is Juanita Bay Park and is NOT Juanita Beach Park.

Conditions such as weather, road or park closures can potentially impact this event. This is especially true during Winter months.
