The Craft of Leading Bird Walks

  • Lake Sammamish State Park 2000 Northwest Sammamish Road Issaquah, WA, 98027 United States (map)

Join Kevin O’Malley of the South Sound Nature School to gain confidence and skills in leading engaging bird walks.

Using Eastside Audubon’s field-tested guidelines, the class covers how to prepare routes, review birding ethics, set participant expectations, and keep groups together. You’ll learn how to help everyone see and hear birds, encourage observation skills, and use tools like eBird to track and share sightings. The emphasis is on creating inclusive, fun experiences that connect people with nature while protecting birds and habitats.

This class is open only to those interested in becoming bird walk leaders with Eastside Audubon.
