Eastside Audubon Privacy Policy
Eastside Audubon Society is a non-profit chapter of the National Audubon Society serving East King County, Washington. We are an all-volunteer organization, and we take the privacy of our members, donors, volunteers and visitors seriously.
This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at eastsideaudubon.org, to email and text messages we exchange with you, and to information you give us when you join, donate, volunteer or attend our events.
What we collect
Your name and contact details, and whatever else you choose to send us, when you join, donate, volunteer, register for a field trip, sign up for our newsletter, or get in touch. We keep a record of our correspondence with you, and of your memberships and gifts. We do not receive or store your card number — our payment processor handles that.
We may also receive information about you from the National Audubon Society, such as contact details for National Audubon members living in our chapter area. If you would rather we did not hold your details, tell us and we will remove them.
Our website keeps ordinary visit logs and uses cookies to work properly. Our newsletter records whether messages are opened, so we can tell what people find useful.
What we use it for
Answering your questions, running memberships, donations and events, sending the Corvid Crier and chapter news you asked for, organizing volunteers, and keeping the financial records a non-profit is required to keep. Nothing else.
Text messages
We may text you if you have given us your mobile number and agreed to be contacted that way — for example by texting us first, or by opting in when you register for something.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You will get one confirmation and nothing further. Reply HELP, or contact us at office@eastsideaudubon.org or 425-576-8805.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Who else sees it
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. We share it only with the services we use to run the chapter, and only so they can do that job: Squarespace (website), Neon One (membership and donations), Constant Contact (newsletter), PayPal (payments), Microsoft (email and files) and Ooma (phone and text). We will also disclose information if the law requires it.
Email and mail
Every bulk email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to take you off any list. We will still send things you specifically need, like a donation receipt or a reply to your question.
Children
Our website is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information through it. For our youth education programs we collect information from a parent or guardian, use it only to run the program, and delete it on request.
We do not collect personal information from children. Our website is not directed to children, and where young people take part in our education programs we deal with a parent, guardian or their school
How long we keep it
Financial and membership records for as long as our legal and tax obligations require. Everything else only for as long as it is useful.
Your choices
Ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it — we will, unless we are required to keep it for tax or legal reasons. Email office@eastsideaudubon.org. We are all volunteers, so please allow a few days.
Security and changes
We take reasonable care with what we hold, though no system is completely secure. If we change this policy we will update the date at the top.
