Tufted Puffins are among the most colorful seabirds of the North Pacific. Their bright orange bills and pale head plumes stand out during the breeding season. In Washington, puffins now nest mainly on remote islands such as Smith and Minor Islands. Seeing them from a boat offers an excellent opportunity to observe these remarkable birds in their natural habitat.

The trip is led by the highly regarded Salish Sea School, which will provide an expert naturalist guide. The trip will take place aboard the 48‑foot vessel Koinonia, which carries up to 32 passengers and includes an onboard restroom for passenger convenience.

This event is part of Eastside Audubon’s annual Birdathon fundraiser, supporting bird conservation, habitat restoration, and education programs. All proceeds support Eastside Audubon’s education programs.

The boat departs from Skyline Marina in Anacortes and travels toward Smith and Minor Islands, home to one of Washington’s last breeding colonies of Tufted Puffins.
