Eastside Audubon’s Christmas Bird Count Reports
The 43rd Eastside Audubon CBC was held on Saturday, December 20, 2025. The weather was partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 40 t0 45 degrees F. We had some light rain some rain but overall it was a good day for birding.
The 40th Eastside Audubon CBC was held on Saturday, December 16, 2023. It was an excellent day for winter birding in Western Washington.
Eastside Audubon held its 39th Christmas Bird Count (CBC) on Saturday, December 17, 2022. The count was part of the 123rd CBC sponsored by the National Audubon Society. In total the teams found 94 species of birds on Count Day and a review of eBird postings for Count Week, which includes the three days before and three days after Count Day.
The 38th Eastside Audubon CBC was held on December 18, 2021, a day marked by continuous rainfall. The species count of 88 on count day was the lowest since 86 species were recorded in 2005.
For the second year in a row the EAS CBC found 102 species on Count Day. The historically highest total was 103 bird species in 2016. Our chapter has also continued its success in locating Count Week birds adding six additional species for a total of 108 species of birds seen on our 2020 CBC.
Eastside Audubon held its 36th Christmas Bird Count on Saturday, December 14, 2019. We had a wonderful turnout of 69 volunteers going into the field to count birds, and another five people who watched their feeders for two hours and reported the birds they saw.
