Christmas Bird Count 2026: Saturday, December 19

by Andy McCormick

Registration for the 2026 Eastside Audubon CBC is open until December 13. You can join a field team or participate in feeder watching on Count Day, with more details on our Christmas Bird Count page. We will have 14 field teams which will be out birding from 8:00 a.m. to about 3:00 p.m. Then you can join us at the Redmond Library for a CBC Wrap-up and meet with other birders.

If you prefer to count birds at home you can join the CBC feeder watch program. You need to live within the Eastside Audubon Count Circle and you can check your address at the CBC page.

Be Part of Collecting Data for Research and Have Fun Doing It

The EAS CBC is an all-volunteer project and the largest and longest-running participatory science data gathering project in the world. You can be part of collecting data which are used by bird scientists to help drive conservation projects all over North America. Our chapter’s field teams are led by experienced birders who are accepting up to eight volunteer participants. We also support at-home feeder watchers who count birds at their home feeder or other locations within the 25-mile diameter circle centered on Beaver Lake in Sammamish.

The 2026-2027 count period from December 14, 2026 to January 5, 2027 marks the 127th CBC sponsored by the National Audubon Society. It will be Eastside Audubon’s 44th CBC.

All field teams have openings, and you can choose among them. Check our CBC page to review the list of teams and where they will be counting birds. Make you selections and we will assign you to a team.  Registration is open until December 13. For late registrations, please email Andy McCormick at amccormick@eastsideaudubon.org and we will check for openings for you.

See you on Count Day, December 19!
